Rebecca Tuttle Snyder

Rebecca “Becky” Tuttle Snyder, 89, went to celebrate eternity with her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2026.

“Prudy.” Mom. Mawmaw. Friend. Sister. Prayer warrior. No matter what you called her, you knew Becky was a special woman of faith. Her calm, thoughtful demeanor made you feel like everything was going to be okay. She never spoke ill of anyone. Becky personified kindness and goodness. She knew the right thing to do in every situation.

Becky led a life dedicated to service. She gave of herself in every capacity at the church where she was a member her whole life, Canaan United Methodist. There, she shared her love of God through song. Becky was also an accomplished cook and baker, known for her coconut cake and Grandmaw’s prune cake with caramel icing. But the thing is, it’s hard to name a signature dish, Becky always baked with others in mind. She always tried to make “your” favorite. Plus, you can’t know a Snyder and not know that Becky made an amazing lunch every Sunday.

Becky was born August 5, 1936, in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Willie Berrier Tuttle and Gurnie Tuttle. She graduated from Griffith High School where she played basketball, being selected three years in a row for the Forsyth County All Star Basketball Team.

She was employed early in life at McLean Trucking and Western Electric and returned to work at Winston-Salem Dental Care after her family was grown.

Becky dedicated much of her time to Canaan, her church home, where she was the heart of the United Methodist Women’s Society, a choir member for more than 60 years and a Sunday school teacher in the Fellowship Class. She also inspired another generation of Christians through song as the Children’s Choir Director and Vacation Bible School.

In addition to her parents, Becky was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Tuttle Sheets, Arnold Tuttle and Bobby Tuttle. Surviving are devoted siblings, Nancy Tuttle Worley, Burnett Tuttle (Kay) and Ricky Tuttle (Susan); and brother-in-law, Jimmy Sheets and sister-in-law Libby Tuttle who will greatly miss her.

She leaves behind family and friends who adored her. Her devoted husband of nearly 70 years, Don Snyder, their children, Robin Snyder Brinson Hunter (Frank), Larry Snyder (Amber) and Robert Snyder (Sandy); grandchildren, Patrick Brinson (Jenny), Megan Snyder, Bryson Smiley, Marley Snyder, Anderson Snyder and Camden Snyder. As well as great-grandchildren, Bennett and Brooks Brinson.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 2pm at Canaan United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jay Bowers officiating. Becky will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the start of the service in the church sanctuary. Burial will take place in the church cemetery following the service, and the family will receive friends following burial in the church fellowship hall.

Special thanks to all our caregivers: Tonica (Naa), Tammy, Mikala, Angelique, Rose and Qynekquia from Griswold Home Care, and Meredith, Devonia and Marquita of Amedisys Hospice.
