Mrs. Rebecca Ann Wilson Howard, 89, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Trinity Glen. She was born in Columbus County on July 18, 1929 to the late Charles Martin Wilson and Mary Wayne Wilson. Mrs. Howard was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. She retired from Bell South with 26 years of service. Mrs. Howard continued to enjoy her membership in the telephone company Pioneers. She loved flowers, crafts, cooking, painting, and boating. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John Charles Howard; five brothers: Tom, Charles, Jack, Henry, and Frank Wilson; and one sister, Louellen W. Frances. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Gowan of Kernersville; son, John Richard Howard (Ruby) of Advance; brother, Isaac Wilson (Faye) of Richmond, VA; sister, Wanda W. Wilson of Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and beloved nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Dr. Brad Stamey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to: Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. “The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff of Trinity Glen for the exceptional love and care given to our mom.”
