Mrs. Reiko S. Poplin, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018. She was born November 4, 1932 in Nagoya, Japan, to the late Hirose and Tatsuta Shimizu. Mrs. Poplin was a dedicated military wife and was a strong-willed and independent woman that always put her family first. Before her illness, she enjoyed gardening and knitting. Mrs. Poplin will be forever remembered for her loving nature and her exceptional cooking. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Keith Poplin, and daughter-in-law, Dawn Poplin. Surviving are three sons: Chris Poplin and wife Sherrie of Blowing Rock, NC, Stephan Poplin of Alabaster, AL, and Rick Poplin and wife Kim of Tobaccoville, NC; seven grandchildren: Justin Poplin, Olivia Poplin, Stephan Poplin, Jr., Harrison Poplin, Madison Poplin, Travis Poplin, and Nick Poplin; three siblings: Yoko, Isao, and Kazuo; and many nieces and nephews both here and in Japan.
