Walkertown - Renza Thomas Carmichael, 94, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation. He was born June 7, 1917 to the late Thomas M. Carmichael and Louisa Pulliam Carmichael. Mr. Carmichael was a long time member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, he retired from the United States Post Office where he was a Postman. Renza was the owner and operator of Sewing Machine Service in Walkertown and was well known for his expertise in care of sewing machines. Since the death of his wife; Gladys D. Carmichael, Mr. Carmichael had resided at Arbor Ridge Independent Living in Kernersville. Renza will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother Phillip J. Carmichael. Surviving are; a daughter, Mary Beth Evans, two granddaughters; Leslie Sutphen (Chris), and Dara Lumpkin; four great grandchildren; Chelsea Williams, Austin Tatum, Luke Sutphen and Logan Sutphen; and one great great granddaughter; Kaydence Williams. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:30 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
