Rev. John Frank Edwards

The Reverend John Frank Edwards 85, of Independence Village on Reynolda Rd. passed away on May 29, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1926 in Belmont, NC to William James Edwards and Julia Etta Clemmer Edwards. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Vivian Mae Hall; two brothers and four sisters; one son, Carmen Ray Edwards; and one daughter, Lisa Marie Edwards. After serving in the Army he entered the ministry. He was an ordained Elder in the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served 12 churches and retired with 34 years of service. He is survived by his loving daughter, Martha Anne Edwards of Swannanoa, NC; a very loving, caring, close friend of 5 years, Carol Evans of Winston-Salem; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at Pine Grove United Methodist Church on Jonestown Rd. Sunday, June 3rd at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
