Rev. Fry

Rev. John Frank Fry, 92, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Forest Heights Senior Living in Winston-Salem. He was born on October 28, 1925 in Davie Co. the son of the late George and Laura Wood Fry. Rev. Fry served his country proudly in the United States Army 3rd Division, where he served in the infantry, artillery, special services and intelligence units. He was discharged from the Army on his 21st birthday. In 1966, upon returning from the Army, he went to work in the blacksmith shop at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., where he worked for 19 years. In 1947 he married the love of his life; Edith West Fry and they were married for 65 years until her death in 2012. In February of 1966, Rev. Fry was ordained into the Moravian Church at Macedonia Moravian Church. He pastored Fulp Moravian Church in Walnut Cove until his retirement with 26 years of service and the served as the interim pastor of Mt. Bethel Moravian Church in Cana, VA for another 14 years. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Eric Fry; and his 9 siblings. Rev. Fry is survived by a daughter, Kathy Fry of Germanton; a son, Rick Fry and wife Lola of Germanton; a daughter-in-law, Rebecca Adams Fry of Walkertown; four grandchildren, Elisha Whicker (Michael) of Winston-Salem, Brain Fry of Winston-Salem, Kristen Pender (Dow) of Clemmons and Patrick Fry (Anna) of Walnut Cove; and five great-grandchildren, Callie, Dree, Sawyer, Lane and Emily. He is also survived by numerous, nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Fulp Moravian Church in Walnut Cove with Pastor Chuck Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends following the committal service in the church fellowship hall.
