Rex Bowen

Mr. Rex Goodwin Bowen passed away on Monday November 7, 2022, at Village Care of King. He was born July 26, 1935, in Stokes County to the late William “Worth” Bowen and Blanche Helsabeck Bowen. Rex was a member of Pinnacle United Methodist Church for many years. While working for Western Electric, he volunteered at the King Fire Department where he served as the captain of traffic patrol for over 30 years. Rex also enjoyed working for several companies in dealer transfers and eating out at restaurants. Rex was an avid Braves fan who loved and cherished his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Leagans and a brother, Danny Bowen. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janice Gordon Bowen; one son, Gordon Bowen (Lisa); one daughter, Lori Anne Bowen; three grandchildren, Kayla Kortan (Kenny), Andrew Bowen (Stephanie Baxter) and Madeline Ellerbrock (Trevor); five great-grandchildren, Jacob Bowen, Raymon Kortan, Isla Kortan, Rhett Kortan, and Hazel Ellerbrock; two sisters, Ruth James and Lynn Moser; a brother-in-law, Phillip Gordon (Marie), and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Gordon. The family would like to thank the staff of Village Care in King for caring for Rex. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday November 11, 2022, at Pinnacle United Methodist Church with Rev. Robin Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pinnacle United Methodist Church general fund, 1010 High Bridge Road, Pinnacle NC, 27043.
