Mr. Richard “Dickie” Pierce, 85, of Clemmons, NC, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2026, at his home at Cadence at Clemmons. He was born May 18, 1941 in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Worley and Ruth Pierce.
Dickie grew up in the Easton community and graduated from Glenn High School in Forsyth County, where he was a point guard for the Bobcats basketball team. He was a longtime member of Waughtown Baptist Church in Winston-Salem where he served as a deacon and trustee. He played on and coached the men’s church softball team, leading them to multiple titles throughout his time as coach.
Dickie was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Dickie had a lifelong love affair with automobiles, racing and sports in general. He loved having breakfast with his Kermit’s “family” at Kermit’s Hot Dog House in Southside Winston-Salem. He retired from Roadway Express as a proud truck driver and Teamster. He was a very proud family man who loved, and was loved by, all of his many nieces and nephews.
Dickie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Toby Wilson Pierce (married 53 years and passed away in 2016); and his brother, Jimmy Pierce. Surviving are his two children, Brian Pierce (Susan) and Jeanna Hagan (Ryan); four grandchildren, Jessica Kirby (Scott Kirby), Allie Pierce (Andrew Boyd), Bailey Hagan (Hunter Hudson) and Michael Hagan; two great grandchildren, Rory and Mack Hagan; a sister, Ann England; and a brother, Stanley Gray Pierce. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with John Pierce officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care.
