Mr. Richard Dale Metcalf , 77, of Lewisville passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Metcalf was born in Marshall, NC on August 23, 1937 to Chauncey and Ella Callahan Metcalf. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Metcalf was a former member of Lewisville Baptist Church where he served as a past Deacon, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He was also an RA Leader. Mr. Metcalf was a current member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a bible fellowship group leader and volunteered in the print shop. He retired from Pilot Freight Carriers with 25 years of service. Following retirement, he worked with Higgs Ambulance Service transporting Veterans and helping make their days better. During his free time, he enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Metcalf was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alan Metcalf; four brothers,Zane, Bob, Fred, and Joe Lynn Metcalf; and a sister, Mary Janice Metcalf. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda Metcalf; a son, Todd Metcalf and wife Meredith of Clemmons; a sister, Emily Thomas of Weaverville; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 3:00 pm Friday, December 19, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Burial will follow at Lewisville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:45 pm to 2:45 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at Calvary Baptist Church, 5000 Country Club Rd., Winston Salem, N.C. 27104
