Richard “Dick” Adolphus Mock, 86, entered into the immediate presence of his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2026 at Priddy Manor in King.
Dick was born on September 8, 1939 in Washington County, Tennessee to Joel Adolphus Mock and Josephine McKinney Mock. He worked for many years as a boiler operator at R.J. Reynolds. Dick was a faithful member of Bethania Moravian Church for 58 years.
Had you have had the opportunity to meet him, you would understand that he was a very interesting man. He had a story to add to every conversation, and endless amounts of advice to offer whether you wanted to hear it or not. He was funny, loud, boisterous, stubborn, and his presence filled every room that he entered. He loved to travel, traveling to many states, and countries around the world and loved to spend time hunting, fishing, and collecting antiques.
He cared deeply for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved his family dearly, but he held his great-grandchildren in a very special place in his heart. Our family will miss him, but we are so thankful for all the years we were blessed to be with him.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Joel Mock.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Shutt Mock; children Eric Mock, Loretta Hooks (Jeff), Cindy Wages (Jeff); grandchildren, Joel Hooks (Laura), Ashlyn Hooks Gordon (Trevor), Becca Wages Sheets (Brandon), Erica Mock Parrish (Chris), Nicholas Mock; and great-grandchildren Allie, Avett, Avaleigh, Emma, Aiden, and Audrey.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Bethania Moravian Church, with Rev. Linda Sieppel and Rev. Charlie Fishel officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Bethania Moravian God’s Acre. A reception will follow the burial in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Bethania Moravian Church, 5545 Main St. Bethania, NC 27010.
