Richard Nelson, Sr.

Mr. Richard Todd Nelson, Sr., 53, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at his home.  He was born in Forsyth County on April 21, 1965.  Todd was the owner/operator of A-1 Air Compressors and was a true master of his trade.  He loved cars, hot rods, dirt bikes, drag racing, boating, and anything with an engine.  When his boys were younger, he also enjoyed coaching football.  Todd was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  Todd was preceded in death by is mother, Kit Binkley and brother, Darrell Nelson.  He is survived by his father, Jack Nelson (Becky); devoted wife, Penny Nelson; five loving children: Richard Nelson Jr., Tana Nelson, John Nelson, Dustin Nelson, and Damon Nelson; two step-children, Brittney Dixon and Ryan Bondurant; two grandchildren, Tegan Smitherman and Emory Tate; three step-grandchildren: Andrew Dixon, Austin Craver, and Triniti Dixon; brother, David Nelson (Judy); and step-father, Martin Binkley.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Tuesday, January 29, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
