Richard Allan Pridgen

Richard Allan Pridgen, 88, of Kernersville, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Kernersville Medical Center. He was born to the late Robert Pridgen, Sr. and Kathleen Barrett Pridgen on May 13, 1938, in Mecklenburg County, NC.

Dick graduated in 1957 from A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville. He went on to attend Mercer University. Dick married the love of his life, Dale in 1960.

After school he began his career in ministry work. He worked in multiple states along the east coast as a music educator, teaching Christian education, and speaking Gods word.

In 1989 Dick began his passion for training blood hounds and search dogs. For 25 years he worked alongside law enforcement to assist with locating criminals, article searches, body relocation, and more.

In his free time, Dick enjoyed spending time with family, being outside, and always staying active.

In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Pridgen, Jr., and James Pridgen.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Nancy “Dale” Pridgen; daughter, Andra Mortensen (Daren); son, Brian Pridgen (Katie); granddaughter, Anna Scott Pridgen; and numerous other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Officiating the service is Pastor Steve Roberson. Inurnment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
