Richard Franklin Rising Jr., 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Mr. Rising was born May 20, 1938, in New Hanover County, to the late Richard Franklin Rising Sr. and Lucille Benton Rising West. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and retired from World Citrus after 20 years and T.W. Garner Foods with 4 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Goins, and Bonnie Hodge; and two brothers, Joseph P. Rising, and Donald Ray Rising.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 63 years, Margaret Elizabeth White Rising; three daughters, Debbie Wagoner (Greg) of Lexington, Lauran Thompson (Allen) of Albemarle, and Sandra Brown (Richard) of Walkertown; seven grandchildren, Gregory Wagoner, Richie Brown, Caitlyn Brown, Jake Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Rita Thompson, and Ashley Bowers (B.J.); four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Bruce Dickerson officiating. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
