Richard Grey “Sparky” Spach, 86, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, and he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Bonnie, whose loss he felt profoundly throughout his remaining years. Richard was born on January 28, 1940, and was the son of Fred David Spach and Margaret Snyder Spach.
Richard “Pop” was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He carried himself with a smooth confidence, was dependable to his core, and never failed to keep his word. Helping others came naturally to him, and he did it without ever needing to be asked twice.
In his early years, he sold cars, and his smooth skills and easy charm quickly set him apart. He later went on to build and operate his own trucking company, Richard Spach Trucking, proudly running his BIG dump trucks and investing his whole heart into the work he loved.
Richard loved anything that brought a spark to life. Playing the drums was something he embraced in his early years, performing across the country and meeting many well-known singers- a chapter that perfectly matched his charm and spirited personality. His passion for fast cars remained, and he enjoyed keeping a sharp, well-manicured yard, taking pride in those straight mowing lines and satisfaction of a job well done.
He had a fondness for anything sweet- especially apple pie. Richard had a natural gift for humor- always picking jokes, lightening the mood, and bringing smiles to those around him.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Marie Spach and Peggy Spach Sidden (George).
He is survived by his loving son, Justin Spach; stepdaughter, Christy Cottrell; grandchildren, Christian Cottrell, Brodie Spach, and Sierrah Spach; brother, Mick Spach, and wife Myra of Collierville, TN; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held 10:30AM Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
