Richard Spainhour

Mr. Richard Errol Spainhour, 79, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at his residence. Richard was born in Forsyth County on February 26, 1939, to the late John Robertus Spainhour, Jr. and Ethel Bowman Spainhour. He served in the United States Army and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 35 years of service. Richard was devoted to his family and lived out his Christian faith as a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as an usher and he attended the bible fellowship class. Richard was also a Mason and member of Salem Lodge #289 on Country Club Road in Winston-Salem. He had a passion for magic. Richard was a master magician and performed for generations. He was both humbled and honored to perform at The Magic Castle in Los Angeles, California. Richard is survived by his wife, Nanette Creasy Spainhour; children, John R. Spainhour (Sue), Jeff G. Spainhour (Jennifer), and Jo Anna S. Nifong (Jimmy); 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, and a brother, Ronald Spainhour. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, March 12, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Don Schmidt and Mr. Al Fausch officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 5000 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
