Richard Thomas “Dick” Jamback, 81, passed away at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on June 16, 2026. He was born to Arvo and Charlotte Jamback on January 20, 1945, in Lake City, FL, and raised in New Hampshire. Dick received a Bachelor of Education degree from Wake Forest University where he was a member of the ROTC. Following graduation, he entered the Army as a 2nd Lt. serving in South Korea. Upon his return, Dick launched his teaching career at Hill High School. He went on to teach, and coach basketball and golf at Mount Tabor High School and was inducted into the Spartan Hall of Fame. “Coach Jammer” will be remembered by former students as a nurturing mentor whose wisdom, humor, and genuine concern helped guide them to adulthood. He was also a lifelong, diehard Boston and Wake Forest sports fan.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his dogs, Bruins and Duchesses. He leaves behind his strong, loving, and beautiful wife, Leslie; brother, Robert “Bob” Jamback (Susan); niece, Sara Jamback (Dan); sister-in-law, Jennifer Zidlicky (Sharon); cousins, Gregg Jamback (Jamie Huss) and Carol Weldin; the Collins family, including Dick’s three godchildren, Tyler Collins, Trevor Collins, and Taylor Collins; their children, Rilynn, Hunter, Campbell, Turner, and Parker; and Dick’s former schoolmate at Wake and lifelong friend, Tom Collins; also his Spartan family, and all his golfing buddies at Reynolds Park and Grandview.
A celebration of Dick’s life will be held later this Summer.
Memorials may be made to the Forsyth Humane Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family is grateful for the loving care he received from the aides at Peidmont Home Care, and Tanya Ann Thompson. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is respectfully serving the Jamback family.
