Mr. Richard “Dick” Whitaker Troutman was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and passed away peacefully at his home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Dick was a graduate of Brush High School and The Ohio State University. He was deeply proud of his service in the United States Air Force and enjoyed a successful career as a mortgage banker for over 25 years with various institutions in Ohio and Florida, later working as an executive recruiter until his retirement.
An avid golfer, Dick loved fishing the flats off Sarasota and never missed a chance to spoil his dogs. His family and many friends will fondly remember his rather wicked sense of humor and, knowing what a devoted Ohio State fan he was, will especially appreciate this sentiment: “There’s always next year.” (Go Bucks)
He was the beloved husband of Pam; a devoted father of Mike (Stacy) and Heather; a proud grandfather of Alex, Michael, Evan, Aaron, Owen, and Isaac; and a loving uncle of Ben.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Isaac Troutman; his brothers, Jim and Bill; and his nephew, Tim.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
