Winston Salem - Mr. Richard Hayworth Weavil, 91, passed away February 7, 2014 at his home after being surrounded by his loving family, in the same house he was born in. He was born October 5, 1922 to the late John Madison and Bessie Hayworth Weavil. Richard was a deacon of the church, a church clerk, oversaw the care of the cemetery, led the church singing for decades, and was a farmer for his entire life, on the land he inherited from his father.
Surviving are; his loving wife, Elizabeth D. Weavil, a son; Nathan Weavil and wife Jo Ann of Holly Springs, a daughter; Susan Lester and husband Michael of Wallburg, a granddaughter; Michelle Lester Brady and husband Scott, a grandson; Jonathan Michael Lester, and a sister; Margie Weavil Manuel, and a nephew, Gregg Manuel.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Saints Delight Primitive Baptist Church with Elders David Hogan and E.W. Hooven officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday evening, February 10, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
