Rickey Pope

Rickey Roscoe Pope, 66, passed away at his residence on May 7, 2018. He was born September 1, 1951 to Edith Spach Pope and Raymond Curtis Pope in Winston-Salem. Rickey was a devoted member of Advent Moravian Church. He earned an AAS degree from Davidson Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Pfeiffer. He was married to Brenda Tilley Pope for 2 years and 5 days. Rickey loved his church and enjoyed his job there as sexton. His many interests included beach trips, bicycling, sports events, NC radio stations, jet planes and airports. He was also an animal lover and antique auto enthusiast. His keen sense of humor rubbed off on those who were close to him; living on in his stories. In addition to his parents, Rickey was preceded in death by an infant sister, Beverly Rose. He is survived by a number of cousins from the Pope and Spach sides of the family. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Advent Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
