KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Robah Cyrus Watson, 90, passed away peacefully Monday, July 28, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. He was born in Kernersville on June 14, 1924 to John Henry Watson and Fatima Josephine Pegram Watson. Robah was a WWII Veteran, serving in the US Marine Corp, Sixth Marine Division, in the Pacific Theater. He was a retired, self-employed carpenter and tobacco farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Taylor Watson of the home; his sons, Jerry Watson and Mike Watson of Kernersville and Jeff (Karen) Watson of Walkertown; his daughters, Peggy (James) Smith and Diane (Michael) Hicks, Angie (Jeffrey) Thomas of Kernersville, Theresa McCracken of Abingdon, Va.; grandchildren, Shane (Shelia) Watson, Deanna Watson, John (Rachel) Watson, Ginger Johnson and Jacob Watson; and great-grandchildren, Abby and Chloe Johnson. He is also survived by his wife's daughters, Kimberly (Steve) Masten of Mooresville, and Elizabeth Dawn Taylor of Raleigh. He also leaves behind a very special canine friend, Daisy.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the funeral home and other times at Mr. Watson's home and at the home of Jeff Watson.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
