Mr. Robert Alan “Bob” Tucker, 79, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026, following a battle with cancer. Bob was born February 11, 1947, in Knoxville, TN to the late James H. and Bertha M. Tucker. He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University. Following graduation, he and Glenda moved to Winston-Salem, NC where he worked at Western Electric/Lucent Technologies as a technical writer for 30 years. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. Bob loved helping people. Along with serving as an usher, he was a member of the Romeo Group, helping build ramps for the handicapped and other needs. Bob loved being outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, growing delicious blueberries and vegetables for his family, and sharing with friends and neighbors. Bob was very handy. He could fix just about anything. He was lovingly called Bob Vila. His grandchildren said, “if Papaw can’t fix it, it can’t be fixed.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Moore. Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Glenda Staley Tucker of the home; his daughters, Tonya Tucker Meierer (Tim) of Charlotte, NC and Melissa Tucker Hass (Josh) of Advance, NC; five grandchildren, Brittany Ann West, whom Bob and Glenda raised as their own daughter, of Winston-Salem, Luke Bodie Meierer of Charlotte, NC, Tammy Renee Hass of Advance, NC, Ryan Tucker Meierer of Charlotte, NC, and Brandon Lee Hass of Advance, NC; his brother, Jim Tucker (Twilla) of Knoxville, TN; two sisters, Carol Armstrong of Knoxville, TN and Jan Tucker of Seymour, TN; many nieces and nephews; and an honorary sister, Ann Pedota of Seymour, TN. The family would like to thank Antonio Ivory who has been Bob’s dear and faithful physical therapist and friend for the past eight years. A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Steven Ackley officiating. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday, August 20, 2026. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 134 S.
