Mr. Robert Arthur Conrad, 89, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at his home. He was born on October 30, 1934, in Forsyth County to the late Philip Wiley and Vena Henning Conrad. Mr. Conrad served in the U.S. Navy where he was a chief torpedoman and continued serving in the Navy Reserves for 22 years. He worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with over 30 years of service and was a founding member of the Rust & Dust Club. Mr. Conrad was a faithful member of Olivet Moravian Church serving as the band director for over 50 years, choir director, youth fellowship leader, church historian, and was a loyal member of the Moravian funeral band playing for other church funerals as his health permitted. He was also a member of the Board of Directors with the Moravian Board of Archives. Preceding him in death was his wife, Lois Harper Conrad. Surviving is a son, John Conrad (Donna) of Morganton, NC and daughter, Amy Goodrich (Gary) of East Bend, NC; four grandchildren, Zach Conrad (Heather), Bethany Terry (Justin), Adam Goodrich (Steph), and Bailey Goodrich; also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Graham, Jack, and Josiah. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Olivet Moravian Church with Rev. Matthew W. Allen and Rev. Doug Rights officiating. A graveside service will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet Moravian Church Music Ministry, 2205 Olivet Church Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27106 or to the Moravian Music Foundation, 457 South Church St. Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
