Mr. Robert Ray Flynt, Jr., 97, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Village Care of King. He was born in Forsyth Co. on September 12, 1922 the son of the late Robert Ray Flynt, Sr. and Beulah Hill Flynt. Mr. Flynt was of the Baptist faith and was a former pastor of Union Tabernacle Church in Winston-Salem. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII, where he was awarded the Purple Heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Lowe Flynt; and seven brothers, Conrad, Wilson, Ernest, George, Joe, Hoke and Howard. Mr. Flynt is survived by his son, Douglas Ray Flynt of Dobson; a granddaughter, Teresa Flynt Clifton (Lee) of Mount Airy; a great-grandson, Bradley Ray Clifton of Mount Airy; a brother, Pastor Roy Flynt of Yadkinville; and two sisters, Louise Cooper of Winston-Salem and Mae Burcham of Yadkinville. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Pastor Roy Flynt officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
