Robert Edward Foy, Jr. of Advance, NC. November 28, 1946 to February 25, 2026
He was well known as Robin. He was born in Charlotte, NC on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1946 to Robert Edward Foy and Virginia Keating Foy.
Raised in Mt. Airy, he played football at the position of Center for the Mt. Airy Bears, graduating in 1965. He played football for two years at Catawba College before joining the Army. He served in Vietnam and Germany before returning to Catawba College to graduate in 1973. He continued serving his country in the National Guard for six more years. He taught and coached at Lexington Middle School for 10 years, working with many 8th and 9th grade students. He returned to school to study computer programming and again to get his MBA. He taught and was System Administrator at Randolph Community College in Asheboro and retired in 1999 to become an instructor at High Point University again retiring in 2006. He loved and lived for golf until back problems and surgery made him have to give it up nine years ago. He wrote his autobiography titled, College Flunkey to College Instructor in 2016.
He and Pam hosted four German foreign exchange students over the years which allowed them to travel to Germany, the Netherlands, Las Vegas, and Italy for visits, more travel, and special events. Frank, Evelin, Ira, and Marco made us foreign exchange grandparents and have stayed in contact for over forty years.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Pamela Carter Foy, his sister, Ellen Foy Airs of Pinehurst and his brother, Richard Foy of Charlotte. Nieces, Julie Foy Lingle (Adam), Lesley Foy Amrine (Zach), Sue Carter Miller, (Joe), grand nieces Avary and Sarah along with Olivia, Owen, Lily, Hayes, Noah and Finn. A memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel by Pastor Rick Martin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
