Robert Eugene Hamlett

Robert Eugene Hamlett, 81, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. He was born on January 24, 1943, in Rockingham County to the late Jesse and Bertha Martin Hamlett. Robert was a family man. He enjoyed spending his free time surrounded by his family, particularly his grandchildren. Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and was stationed in Greece. He was also an adventurous soul and used his employment as a bus driver to see all over the country. Together, Robert and his wife Shirley traveled to Hawaii, Yellowstone, Alaska, Canada, and more. He was a positive and fun person to be around. Robert will be missed by those who knew and loved him. 

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Wilson Barker; a daughter, Tanya Reynolds; three sons, Jeff Hamlett, Chris Hamlett, and Timothy Hamlett; six grandchildren; as well as one brother, Marty Hamlett.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Steve Roberson officiating. In Robert’s honor, donations may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church at 5424 Union Grove Rd, Oak Ridge, NC 27310.
