Mr. Robert "Bob" Lincoln Harlan, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017. He was born August 28, 1927 in Connersville, Indiana to E.W. and Myrtle Derickson Harlan, who preceded him in death. Bob graduated from Purdue University and served in the Army in Europe in World War II again in the Cold War. For many years he was a real estate appraiser in Winston-Salem and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Reid Harlan; two sons, David Harlan of Winston-Salem and Thomas Harlan and wife Beth and their daughter, Maribeth Harlan of Midlothian, VA. Also surviving are Dorothy's two nieces, Janet Lowrey and husband Jim of Winston-Salem and Joan Hoover and husband Richard of Charlotte and their families. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Kevin Conley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Services, 317 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Senior Services (Meals On Wheels) or to Crisis Control.
