Mr. Robert Lee "Bob" Jordan passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, surrounded by family members and his beloved dogs at his home in Savannah, Georgia. Bob was born on April 16, 1932 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Emmanuel and Alberta Jordan. He served for 4 years in the United States Navy during the Korean War period as a medic and enjoyed providing medical care and support to fellow Navy sailors and U.S. Marines. Bob had a 30-year career as an electrician, retiring from AT&T and operating his own electrical contracting company.
Bob and his wife, of over 60 years, Betty, loved to travel and enjoyed many wonderful adventures and trips together to all 50 states. They also loved spending leisure time at their mountain cabin getaway in Galax, Virginia area. Betty predeceased Bob in 2014.
Surviving are Bob's children: one daughter, Donna J. Hughes (husband, Michael); two sons, Robert Jordan, Jr. (wife, Rose), and David Kenneth Jordan (wife, Becky); four grandchildren, Robert Jordan III, David K. Jordan, Mitchell Weavil, and Jordyn Piche (husband, Jesse); two brothers, Thomas Jordan and Emmanuel Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was especially blessed by the love of close family members, Doris Chapel and Barbara Whitt.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Kernersville. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel followed by burial at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church cemetery.
