Robert Smith

Mr. Robert Lee Smith, 73, passed away at his home on November 27, 2018 and finally found rest with his Savior after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 22, 1945 to Margaret Irene Binkley Smith and Melvard Albert Smith in Forsyth County. Robert faithfully served our country as a Reservist in the U.S. Marine Corps. He later became a member of the Patriot Riders, a volunteer organization of Military Veterans. Robert retired from Coca Cola with 27 years of service as a truck driver. Selfless and dependable, Robert was the patriarch of the family. He served for many years as a school bus driver for special needs students in the Yadkin County School System. He was devoted to his wife, Becky, who he treated like a queen, showering her with love and care for as long as his health permitted. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Myers. Surviving are his loving wife, Rebecca Sapp Smith; daughter, Morgan Foster (Zac); precious granddaughter, Charlie; and brothers, Albert Smith, Donald “Dink” Smith (Jan), and Mike Smith (Gail). A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Maplewood Baptist Church in Yadkinville with Rev. Jimmy Lancaster officiating.
