Robert Wayne (Bobby) Lopez, 68, of Rural Hall, NC, passed away on November 3, 2015. He was born in Oahu, Hawaii, on August 31, 1947, to parents Walter and Gaudencia Lopez. Bobby served his country in the United States Air Force, during which time he met the love of his life, Jackie Craver. They were married and remained together for 45 years, until her death on December 22, 2012. Bobby was a kind, loving and generous person and was totally devoted to his wife, family and friends and to his little Bichon Frise puppy, Princess Daisy.
After leaving the Air Force, Bobby completed his formal education and began employment with the former Piedmont Airlines in the Triad area. Piedmont Airlines later became US Airways, where Bobby remained employed until his retirement from Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, NC.
Bobby's hobbies included tennis and golfing, both of which he frequently participated in tournaments. He also enjoyed surfing in Hawaii and fishing. He was a black belt in
Ju-Jitsu. Each year, during his life, Bobby traveled home to visit his family in Hawaii. He was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are the following family members in North Carolina: son, Kevin Lopez; loving granddaughter, KayLeigh Lopez and friend Kirby; sisters, Carolyn Craver and Peggy Bourbonais; brothers, Jimmie Craver and wife, Doris, Bobby Craver and wife Billie and Jerry Craver. Also surviving are family members in Hawaii: sister-in-law, Kelly Lopez and her son, Kelson Lopez and his wife Segundo and their sons, Keanu Kamakani and Samson Lopez; sister, Sylvia Ader and her son, Andy Boy, her daughter, Angela Pojas and her granddaughter, Chloe Pojas; brother-in-law, Roland Paulino and his sons, Ricky, Robbie and Randy Paulino. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jessie Paulino; brother, Floyd Lopez; sister-in-law, Vickie Craver and brother-in-law, Gary Bourbonais. Bobby also leaves another very special family of friends at Grandma Ruby Country Cooking in Winston-Salem, where he looked forward to the fellowship and enjoying a daily meal. The families would like to express special thanks to each of these friends for their kindness and friendship toward Bobby, especially after the loss of his wife, Jackie.
At Bobby's request, there will be no service. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., in Rural Hall, NC, is assisting the family.
