Robert Charlie Melton

Mr. Robert Charlie Melton, 70, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Melton was born in Forsyth County on October 30, 1943 to Haward Lee and Isabeal Phelps Melton. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of the Living God where he was a past Deacon and usher until his health failed. Mr. Melton retired from Hanes where he worked in the manufacturing plant. He will be remembered as a loving husband, Daddy, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers; and his first wife of 21 years, Glenda Melton. Mr. Melton is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Bonnie Melton; two daughters, Debra Salinas and husband Jose of Winston-Salem; and Vicki Miller and husband Jimmy of Winston-Salem; a son, Gary Melton, Jr. of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren; a great grandson; and two step-sons. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Mt. Carmel Church of the Living God with the Rev. Donald Luffman and the Rev. Charlie Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Mt. Carmel Church of the Living God. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
