Robert Posey

Mr. Robert Melvin Posey, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018. He was born in Forsyth County on July 28, 1929, to the late Russell Melvin Posey and Ruby Wilkins Posey. Mr. Posey attended Vienna Elementary School and Old Town High School. He was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., retiring after 37 years of service as a chief mechanic. Mr. Posey was a lifetime member of Brookstown United Methodist Church. He was an early member of Mt. Tabor Volunteer Fire Department, badge number 32. He served active duty during the Korean Conflict, in the 62nd Combat Engineering Group of the US Army as a communications lineman. Preceding him in death are his parents and his loving wife of 65 years, Kathleen Rose Posey. Surviving are: a son, Steve Posey; two grandchildren: Jessica Wham (Bradley) of Brooklyn, NY and Justin Posey of Phoenix, AZ. His greatest joys were stories of Justin's BMX races and Jessica's cheerleading. A funeral service will be held in his honor at 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel, officiated by Rev. Chip Webb. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Dr. Betsy English of Winston-Salem Health Care, the staff of Vienna Village, and the staff of Bermuda Commons, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookstown United Methodist Church, 6274 Yadkinville Rd, Pfafftown, NC 27040.
