Robert Reavis

Robert "Jack" Reavis (also known as "Red"), 86, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Red was born July 5, 1931 in Forsyth County to Oscar and Hilda Reavis. He worked as a tanker driver for Exxon for 30 plus years. A member of Salem Baptist Church, Red was instrumental in starting the Boy Scout Troop at the church. He also enjoyed softball and was a manager of many championship winning teams. Red was an avid outdoorsman as well. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Olin G., Norman G., James L., John W., and his sister, Louise Sears.

Red is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Flynt Reavis; sister, Mary Reavis; nieces, Chris Hemric and Leslie Kerr; nephews, Randy Reavis and wife Laurie and Jeff Reavis and wife Nicole; and several other extended family members.

A celebration of Red's life will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 6 - 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
