Mr. Robert Guy Register Jr. passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Moses Cone. He was born in Craven County on January 8, 1924 to the late Clara Belle Cook Register and Robert Guy Register Sr. Mr. Register proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the European Theatre. He was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. He was a jet engine mechanic in the Civil Service Marine Corps in Cherry Point. Mr. Register attended Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church. He was a member of St. John's Lodge #3 A.F.&A.M. of New Bern, NC and an honorary member of Pilot Lodge #493 A.F.&A.M. of Pilot Mountain, NC. In addition to his parents, Mr. Register was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Noris Register and one son, Robert Ray Register. He is survived by two sons, Michael Register (Ann) and James Samuel Register (Katy); and six grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Evelyn Lemons officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. The committal service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern with Masonic burial rites provided by St. John's Lodge #3 A.F.&A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pilot Masonic Lodge #493 A.F.&A.M., Building Fund, P.O. Box 543, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall)
