Winston-Salem – Mr. Robert “Bob” Allyn Spencer, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Elmira, NY on December 7, 1937, to Walter Lester and Emma Geraldine Bailey Spencer. Bob was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a faithful member of Union Cross Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Bob was formerly a member of Guilford Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Youth Leader, and participated in many different mission trips. He was an avid coin collector, an athlete, and the “original do it yourselfer”. He also enjoyed playing chess and other boardgames with his friends and family. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Bill, and Joe Spencer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bettie G. Spencer; three sons, Craig Spencer (Lourdes), Tim Spencer (Valeria), and Kevin Spencer (Michelle); five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Steve Spencer (Glenda); sister-in-law, June Spencer; and many special nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Union Cross Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Woods officiating. The family will recieve friends from 11:00 am until 11:45 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Cross Baptist Church at 4350 High Point Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284 or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27284. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
