Robert Ray Strupe

Walkertown – Mr. Robert Ray Strupe, 88, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Kernersville Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on February 13, 1936, to Ellis Ray and Pearl Whitman Strupe. Robert was a Christian and he enjoyed reading his Bible. He loved his church family and was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church where he helped with their Bus Ministry for over 40 years. Robert was a Veteran of the United States Army. He retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after many years of service, and he was also employed by Gospel Light Christian School. Robert also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing scrabble. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be missed by those who knew and loved him. 

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Strupe, Sr. and his sister, Doris Bame. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Delores Strupe; two daughters, Teresa Priddy (husband, Jerry) and Robin Campbell (husband, Chris); six grandchildren, Michael Hancock (wife, Marisa), Brandon Hancock (wife, Jessica), Amber Hancock, Ashley See (Brandon), Karmen Campbell (Alvis), and Kinley Campbell; and seven great grandchildren, Alexis, Landon, Levi, Brayden, Avery, Easton, and Lucas.

A funeral service for Robert will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Pastor Frank Shumate officiating. Entombment will follow the service in the mausoleum at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert’s name to the Bus Ministry at Gospel Light Baptist Church at 890 Walkertown Guthrie Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
