Robert Wesley Thorpe Jr.

Mr. Robert Wesley Thorpe, Jr. of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014. He was born Dec. 27, 1918 to Robert Wesley and Laura Caudle Thorpe. Mr. Thorpe was a lifelong member of Fries Memorial Moravian Church. He was retired from PH Hanes after 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Rosa Mary Thorpe Worley; and brother, Edward W. Thorpe; and a loving wife of 50 years, Grace E. Burke Thorpe and a very special brother-in-law, Hal G Worley. Surviving are nieces and nephews. There will be no formal visitation; a graveside service will be on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at God's acre, the Moravian Graveyard in Old Salem, with Reverend Kelly and Joe Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fries Memorial Moravian Church at 251 Hawthorne Rd. N.W., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27104 and Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, W.S., N.C. 27103 The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Salem Terrace Assisted Living.
