Roger Dale Beane

Mr. Roger Dale Beane, 64, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Home after succumbing to a 48 day battle with cancer. Roger was born January 20, 1953 in Guilford County to the late Raymond Odell Beane and Maude Nichols Beane. Roger was employed by I. L. Long Contractors in the Filter Unit at RAI to Tobaccoville, NC. He was an avid and hard worker. He would say ""Have to work, got bills to pay"". He was a devoted son to his mother and vowed to take care of her as long as he was able. We will miss his laugh, and his special phrases such as ""I am OK"", or ""I will be alright"" and ""I don't know about that"" and especially when he was in so much pain and asked if was in pain, he would reply ""just a little bit"". Roger was tough and a fighter and independent and never wanted to be a burden to anybody and took pride in what he did. As a teen, he played basketball with the neighborhood friends. In his younger adult life, he loved bowling. Roger is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Odell Beane, Pleasant Garden, NC; sister, Merle Jane Beane Finch of Winston-Salem, N.C., and paternal grandparents, Burley Wilson and Julia Roberts Beane of Dobson, N.C.; step-father Danny Leo Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C. Roger Beane is survived by his mother, Maude Lula Nichols Beane Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Two brothers, Raymond Odell Beane, Jr. of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Billy Wayne Beane (Carol) Of Red Oak, Texas; two sisters, Julia Nichols Spainhour (Tony) Of King, N.C. and Carolyn S. Beane York (Robert) of Little River, S.C., and several Nieces and nephews. The family has much appreciation and thanks to those who cared for Roger: Novant Health Hospital physicians and staff who attended to him, Village Care and especially to the wonderful staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Care Center who was so loving and caring. A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 P.M. Friday, August 18, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev.
