Roger Lee Davis

Roger Lee Davis, 62, of Advance, entered his Heavenly home peacefully on Tuesday. May 30, 2017. He was born in Forsyth County on April 9, 1955 to the late Theodore and Sallie ""Irene"" Pilcher Davis. Roger was a loyal employee of R.J. Reynolds for 39 years. He was a dedicated Charter Member and Deacon of Bread of Life Baptist Church in Mocksville. He had a lifetime love of classic cars and trucks and was a big NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt. He was his grandson Owen's biggest football fan. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry and Larry Davis; a sister, Susan Neely; and grandparents, Wiley and Mary Pilcher. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years of the home, Shelia Ward Davis; his loving daughter, Shannon Davis Brown and his grandson, Owen Brown, his greatest pride and joy, both of Farmington; his special son-in-law and close friend, John Brown; one aunt, Edith (RJ) Plott; three brothers-in-law, Duane (Dee) Ward, Joey (Dana) Ward, and Jeff Ward; many nieces and nephews; and a very special lifetime friend, Rose Ray. Roger is also survived by his special feline friend ""Budders"" who he loved spending time with. Roger will be deeply missed by all who loved him and knew him. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Burial will follow the service in Farmington Community Cemetery in Mocksville. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
