Roger Hinsdale

Roger Gray Hinsdale, 95, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a short illness. He was born in Forsyth County to Julius H. Hinsdale and Ellen Griffin Hinsdale. He loved watching Duke basketball, the Chicago Cubs baseball, and eating all flavors of ice cream. He also loved gardening, raising tobacco, and driving his 1952 Case Tractor. He proudly served during WWII in the US Army Signal Corps in France, Belgium and Germany. He was employed at Western Electric for 38 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Mocile Brown Hinsdale; and his granddaughter, Kristin Elaine Hinsdale. He is survived by his four children, Susan Cothran and husband, Mike of Duncan, OK, David Hinsdale and wife, Tammey of Pataskula, OH, Mark Hinsdale and wife, Margie of Belews Creek, NC, and Adrian Hinsdale and wife, Kim also of Belews Creek, NC. Roger always enjoyed large family get togethers and being with his eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A funeral service for Roger will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Boyce, Pastor Rob Decker, and Pastor Billy Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
