Roger Loy Huston

Roger Loy Huston, 74, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 10, 2026. He was born in Fairfield County, Ohio, on February 9, 1952, to the late Loy Franklin Huston and Leona Anderson Huston. Roger was a graduate of Lancaster High School, class of 1970. He went on to pursue an associate’s degree in electronic engineering at Columbus State University. Roger will be remembered for his lifelong passion for athletics and the great outdoors. He was an experienced angler and fly fisherman, and on seven occasions travelled to Alaska to fish during salmon season. Roger also loved to kayak clear and clean rivers across the country. More than anything, Roger loved his family. He was an incredibly attentive and supportive Father, Grandfather, and Husband. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Susan “Susie” Huston; two children, Audrey Meixner (Brian) and Ethan Huston; two grandchildren, Clara Meixner and Henry Meixner; brother, Ron Huston (Mary); and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Augsburg Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Wollner officiating. A Reception and inurnment will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may go to Augsburg Lutheran Church at 845 W 5th St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101, or to the Dwelling at 502 N Broad St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
