It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Roger Dale Krupel, 82, of Winston-Salem, NC. Roger passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, after an extended illness.
He was born August 27, 1942, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to Edwin Edggie Krupel and Ollie Virginia Baber Krupel and was the eldest of six children. After his family relocated to Kernersville, NC, Roger attended and graduated from Kernersville High School in 1961. He proudly served his country honorably for four years in the United States Army and later retired as a lieutenant with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, after 28 years of dedicated service.
Roger was an active member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the National Sheriffs’ Association. He was best known for his love of family, humor, and generous heart—often giving to the homeless and those in need.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother and father; his beloved daughter, Angela Krupel Stark; his brothers and sisters; his father-in-law; and his favorite aunt, Gaynelle Krupel Hudnall.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Geney Gardner Krupel; his son, Timothy Krupel (Katie); and three grandchildren, Karoline, Kameron, and Charles Krupel. He is also survived by his cousin Sharon (Wayne) Hudnall May; several beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and his cherished 103-year-old mother-in-law, Ann Gardner.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday, April 28, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to the NC ALS Association, 4 N Blount St #200, Raleigh, NC 27601.
