Roger Sutton

Mr. Roger Irvin Sutton of Advance passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 due to complications from Alzheimer's Disease. He was born September 12, 1940 in Wilmington, Delaware to William and Ada Sutton. Mr. Sutton was one of eight children. He attended the University of Delaware, the Wharton School and the Fashion Institute of Technology. His career was spent in textile marketing and sales with firms in New York and North Carolina. During that time, he received several patents for his designs of engineered fibers for the industrial markets while a manager at Golden Needles Knitting in Wilkesboro, NC. Surviving is his wife Jane; children, Stephanie Sutton Moser, Brooke Sutton Spann and Scott Sutton; five grandchildren, Emma Spann, Cora Spann, Harper Sutton, Reade Sutton and Jackson Moser; four sisters, Phyllis Kelly, Millicent Striparo, Ruth Ann Ryan, and Rosemary Sutton and a brother, Ronald Sutton. A memorial service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. R. Craig Ford. The family will receive friends following the service.
