WINSTON SALEM – Ronald L. Heath, 78, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Kernersville Medical Center surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Forsyth County on February 9, 1941 to Leon Madison and Evelyn Yokely Heath.

He was a member of Friedland Moravian Church, graduated from Robert B. Glenn High School – Class of 1959, and graduated from American Flyers in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He also served in the USS Navy Submarine Service aboard the Submarines USS Trumpetfish and USS Chivo.

Ron loved flying, water skiing, and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren at Badin Lake.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Travis Michael Heath; a brother, Wayne Heath; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Bill Bumgarner; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Pat Reed; and two nephews, Chris Reed and Bryan Heath.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Jean Poindexter Heath; two sons, Michael D. Heath of Badin Lake, and Randall L. Heath of Raleigh; three grandchildren, Tyler, Savannah, and Walker Heath; one brother, Mark Heath (wife, Debbie), a sister-in-law, Linda Heath; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tommy and Bettie Poindexter; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Friedland Moravian Church with Reverend Wayne Byerly and Reverend Adam Goodrich officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Friedland Moravian Church, 2750 Friedland Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or the donor’s choice.The family would like to thank Kyndall Stewart of Visiting Angels, Ron’s caregiver during his illness. She was indeed “an angel.”
