Ronald "Ronnie" Lawrence Rierson

Mr. Ronald ""Ronnie"" Lawrence Rierson, 79, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on May 17, 1937 in Forsyth County to Charles McCoy and Sadie Lawrence Rierson. Mr. Rierson grew up in Waughtown. He graduated from Gray High School in 1955, where he earned multiple trophies and awards in football including, the Bocock-Stroud award and WTOB player of the year and he was voted Most Valuable City Player his senior year. Mr. Rierson married Myra Faye Hilton on February 13, 1954. He worked his entire career of 40 years for the Clein family of Camel Pawn Shop. Golf was his passion and, up until recent years, he was a scratch golfer. He was a member of Clemmons First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a Mason and a Shriner and was active in the Shriners Children's Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Faye Rierson of the home; one daughter, Carol Cearley and husband Tom of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Wesley T. Cearley and wife Marcie of Arden, Ashley C. Ward and husband Matthew of Bryan, Tx; two great grandchildren, Madeleine and Catherine Ward; one sister, Jane R. Copple and husband Ben; one brother, Charles M. Rierson, Jr. and wife Shirley; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Clemmons First Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Hammett officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:15 pm on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln. Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
