WRIGHTS Ronald Eugene Wrights, 70, died Christmas morning, December 25, 2013, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Center, giving his wife and daughter the present of no longer suffering in his battle with lung cancer. He was born in Clemmons, NC on September 15, 1943, the son of the late William Henry Wrights and the late Paralea Moser Wrights. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Janet Harper Wrights of Clemmons; a daughter Paralea Wrights Boose and son-in-law Randall Boose of Raleigh; two sisters Onie McVay of Clemmons and Nancy Kwall of Lake Norman; two brothers Harry Wrights (Bonnie) of Lewisville and Allen Wrights (Dorothy) of Clemmons; two sisters-in-law Ila Wrights of Fort Walton Beach, FL, and Elaine Boyer of Clemmons; a brother-in-law Cannon Harper, Jr. (Shannon) of Clemmons; and a special ""adopted daughter"" Peggy Binkley of Moultrie, GA. He is also survived by 26 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents, as well as two sisters, Lucille Wood of Clemmons and Judy Bowden of Huntersville; three brothers, William Henry (Sam) Wrights, Jr. of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Roy Wrights of Clemmons, and Lloyd Wrights of Plains, GA; a sister-in-law Joann Wrights of Clemmons, NC; and a brother-in-law Jay Kwall of Lake Norman. He grew up in Clemmons, and left to enlist in the Army at age 17. After serving in the army (both domestic and abroad), he was honorably discharged in September 1964. He worked in appliance repair, construction, then as a truck driver and diesel mechanic until his retirement from Allied Systems. He was an avid bluegrass musician, and played as much as possible. He also loved to deer hunt, both for food and trophies. He liked to travel, and as a truck driver went to 45 of the 48 continental United States. He also traveled to Hawaii and Alaska with his family. Over the years, he also traveled with his family to countless Bluegrass Fiddler's Conventions in NC and VA, and enjoyed both the beach and the mountains. He loved watching westerns and was always reading a book. He had a great ability to relate to children and animals, and he leaves behind his four precious cats, Rags, Butterscotch, Squirt, and Ratt. His entire family would like to wish a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their loving and gentle care.A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Frank Shepard, Minister and Paul Kirkpatrick, Minister officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or you may make a memorial contribution in his name to either the Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27013 or to the charity of your choice.
