Rosa Joann Southern Carmichael

Walkertown- Mrs. Rosa Joann Carmichael, 81, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on April 7, 1945, in Stokes County, the daughter of Wilson Southern and Annie Mae Southern. A member of Love’s United Methodist Church for over 62 years, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. Joann retired from Conway-Southern Express after 26 years of service. She enjoyed baking, shopping and traveling with friends. Joann was very social, devoted to her family and was always there for everyone. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Thomas “Tommy” Carmichael, Sr... Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Williams (Sam); a son, James T. Carmichael, Jr. (Kim); three grandchildren, Clay Carmichael (Lauren), Cory Carmichael (Cassidy) and Katherine “Katie” Williams; two great grandchildren, Presley and Oliver and many extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Sandra Ireson and Pastor Nathan Cline officiating. Burial will follow at Love’s United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
