Roy Phelps

Mr. Roy L. "Dusty" Phelps, 78, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Phelps was born in Forsyth County on June 9, 1939, to the late James L. Phelps and Lillie Mae Black Phelps. Dusty retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was an avid NASCAR and Kevin Harvick fan and enjoyed cigars. Dusty was a generous man with a big heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Richard Phelps; and two sisters, Luella Barringer and Sarah Davis. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Bro. Charles Williams and Pastor Ronnie Comer officiating. Entombment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
