Ruby Floyd

Oak Ridge - Mrs. Ruby Lee Harris Floyd, 89, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2017 at Countryside Manor surrounded by family. She was born on January 22, 1928 in High Point, NC. Ruby was the matriarch of her family and was loved deeply by them all. Ruby spent many years working for Skippers Choice in High Point, NC. After relocating to Shallotte, NC, she opened and managed Ocean Isle Interiors until retirement. One of her favorite hobbies was fishing at the coast. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Ruby was preceded in death by her father John Harris, her mother Aleta Jennings Harris, and her son Paul Edward Floyd, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul Edward Floyd, Sr., her daughter Sarah Allen (John) of Oak Ridge, her son Joseph Floyd (Gina) of Oak Ridge, daughter in law Crystal Floyd Flynt of Greensboro, sister Christine Trull of Greensboro, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and special friends Greg and Sherri Westmoreland.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Pete Kunkle officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Leukemia Research Foundation at www.allbloodcancers.org.
