Ruby Zimmerman Gibson

Ruby Frances Zimmerman Gibson entered into the more immediate presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Westchester Harbour Assisted Living. Ruby was born on September 18, 1929, in High Point to Lee Roy and Rachel Sink Zimmerman. She graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in 1951 with a B.S. in Music Education. Ruby was married to William "Bill" David Gibson. Music played an important part in her life, and through the years, Ruby taught many young people in the High Point area to play piano, and she served as organist of St. Michael Lutheran Church and Union Cross Moravian Church until her retirement. She also enjoyed playing and singing hymns at nursing homes with her friends. Ruby was an expert seamstress and made all of the clothes for her growing daughters. Later on, she began making thousands of quilts and donating them to people in need. In the summer, Ruby would stay busy canning and freezing vegetables from their abundant gardens and caring for her flowers. Ruby was active in the Moravian Church and served for many years as a Moravian Missons Volunteer to Bethel, AK cooking, repairing, and assisting in the building of a new Sanctuary. She had many friends among the Yupik people. She also served as a Sunday School teacher all of her adult life, was an active member of Women's Fellowship, and loved volunteering at the church Thrift Store. Ruby loved her Lord and her family.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and a brother, Norman.

Surviving are three daughters: Catherine Draper (Tony), Alice Linville (Ron), Ann Parlier (Keith); seven grandchildren: David Draper (Sarah), Mark Draper (Courtney), Diane Jenkins (Christian), Brent Bunn (Heather), Carrie Rinehart (Jeff), Ted Linville (Megan), Aaron Linville (Amy), and thirteen great grandchildren.
