Ruby Jean Proctor

Mrs. Ruby Black Proctor, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at her home.

Ruby was born July 26, 1930, in Forsyth County to the late Samuel Harrison Black, Sr., and Stella Pope Black.

Ruby enjoyed cooking for her family and taking meals to friends in need. She loved being outside and working in her garden and yard. She said that is where she found peace. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Global Methodist Church, which she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bob" Robert Proctor; her four brothers, Sam Jr., Carney, Bill, and Ronda; and her sister, Colleen. She is survived by her three children, Mitch Proctor (Marchelle), Greg Proctor (Jamie), and Jeanne Nifong (Bobby). She also had six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly, with a new great-grandchild on the way.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Global Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Dr. Mary Miller. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
